Home Interior Design - making creative use of curtains in home decorating.

Curtain is a great accessory that can be used in more than one way in home decorating. Let’s try to see a few uses of curtains in decorating.

1) The primary use of curtains is to cut off extra light that enters in a room from outside that can create glare. We can use this feature creatively by using curtains that have a thin cloth sheet. This will make the light diffused and the shade of the curtain’s cloth color will spread evenly inside the room by creating a “mood”. An even and colored light that’s natural and less harsh to the eyes will light the room.

2) Curtains with prints of flowers or patters can add more beauty from inside when used with a combination of the above-mentioned example.

3) Another use of curtains is to use them as a room divider. Instead of using wooden partitions, curtains can be used as room divider with heavy cloth. This will save some space on the floor that would have been occupied by wooden partitions. Curtains can anytime be top hung for granting access between the rooms.

I have just mentioned a few ideas here. I am sure these can serve you come up with more interesting ideas for home decorating.

Home Design - What’s it all about.

Filed under: Home Design — smvpune @ 12:25 am

When it comes to designing a home many people think mostly about painting the interiors and arranging the furniture so that the interiors look new. But truly speaking “home design” involves many things than just interiors. I would classify the whole process of home design into two basic parts as follows.

1) Exterior Home Design
2) Interior Home Design

Let’s have a look at some of the common things you can go about in both these categories.

1) Exterior Home Design.

This includes everything and anything that goes around the home building (including the building) that can increase the aesthetical and utilitarian value of your home building.

Things like exterior painting or wall sidings, repairing or installing new roofing materials, pathways to move around, artificial lighting in the garden, lawns and gardening, accessories such statues, patios, garage buildings, play areas for kids, swimming pool (if required), etc.

2) Interior Home Design

This includes wallpapers, color schemes, furniture and their layouts, lighting, curtains, upholstery, carpets, picture frames, other accessories such indoor plants, indoor fountains, statues etc.

So home design in itself is a wide area that needs to be worked out step by step and with enough planning. If you are thinking of designing you home, I suggest you first break down the whole process into two parts as mentioned above and it will be much easier to come up with a whole executable plan that will save your time as well as money.
